Sub-divided flats: low wind speed, carbon dioxide suspended particulates reached alarming levels
"Environment under 3 kinds of deprived conditions" which seriously affects the resident’s quality of life
WGO joined hands with SKH Lady MacLehose Centre and its Community Work section to conduct a survey on the living conditions of 134 households from "Unfavorable accommodations". The survey was conducted through questionnaires and the use of air quality measurement and related equipment, from the fourth quarter of 2015 to the first quarter of (2016) in Kwai Chung. The survey data was analysed with the assistance of the Department of Building Services Engineering, at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. We found that most of the residents in these sub-divided flats are facing poor ventilation, poor air quality and poor lighting, that's what we named as “3 kinds of deprived conditions”. WGO urges the government to improve the quality of life of these grassroots residents.

“Less Waste Let’s Do it 2016” : The Green Carnival
This year WGO collaborated with the Great Eagle Group for the second year to host the “Less Waste, Let’s Do it 2" programme. The aim of the programme was to train up students in secondary schools and universities to become "6R Ambassadors", and to arouse public awareness of the waste management concepts through various activities. Other than the traditional 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, 3 more Rs - Rescue, Redesign and Reform, were incorporated and taught to the general public this year. The finale of the programme "The Green Carnival" was held on September 4th (Sunday) at the Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. Apart from the main theme 'Exchange Corner' where participants were invited to bring along their unneeded items and to find new 'masters' for them, other fun and creative activities such as 'Transforming Waste into Arts', upcycling workshops and booth games were also held to teach the public the importance of reducing waste at source. Green Guests Supper Moment did not only perform their most-loved songs, but also bringing their unneeded items for a meaningful exchange with their fans, while protecting the environment!
