United Nations Social Impact Fund (UNSIF) Green Economy Fund MOU Signing Ceremony and CityU EMBA CEO Forum


UNSIF – The Green Economy Fund MOU Signing Ceremony and CityU EMBA CEO Forum was held on January 18, 2016 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This event was very successful and had keen participation from over 100 political and business leaders; as well as advocates of a green economy. The Honourable John Tsang GBM, JP, Financial Secretary visited the event. World Green Organisation (WGO) was honoured to be the Social and Environmental Engagement Partner of the Green Economy Fund and witnessed the MOU signing ceremony.

The “Sustainable Business Award" 2015

WGO noticed the importance of sustainable development strategies for business enterprises, which, in turn, triggered the idea of launching the first “Sustainable Business Award". The first award ceremony was successfully held at the Zero Carbon Building, Kowloon Bay.

The ten-awarded enterprises included A.S. Watson Group, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Canon Hong Kong Company Limited, China Overseas Holdings Limited, Henderson Land Group, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hysan Development Company Limited, Inchcape Motor Services Limited, Kerry Properties Limited, and The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited.

WGO's 3rd Anniversary Ceremony and Charity Dinner

At the end of November 2015, WGO held its 3rd Anniversary Ceremony and Charity Dinner by adopting “Care for the underprivileged, Fight against climate change” as the theme to raise public awareness towards climate change.

On that night, WGO also launched a fundraising campaign. Donations will be used as follows: 1) to educate the public on climate change’s impact and prevention measures, 2) to aid the flood disaster victims in Myanmar and help to implement the local environmental reconstruction work, 3) and to support under-privileged families.

GOALS 2015 Autumn Award Presentation Ceremony

The GOALS 2015 Autumn Award Presentation Ceremony was successfully held on 1st December 2015 in Bank of America Tower. This ceremony attracted 104 organisations to attend.

Since GOALS was launched in 2013, until now 250 offices and organisations have participated in this programme. This ceremony, over 40 companies that had participated in GOALS for more than 3 years were awarded with the “ 3+ green office label”. In recognition of Kai Shing Management services Limited‘s 40 offices that have participated in the program at the same time, Kai Shing received the “Green Pioneer” award.

This year, the newly joined organisations include Wang On Group Limited, Octopus Cards Limited, KPMG and Herbs Generation (Holdings) Limited etc.

The Cambridge Scholarly Luncheon and Energy Policy Forum -Our Sustainable Energy Future

Jointly organised by the WGO and HKU-Cambridge Clean Energy and Environment Research Platform, the University of Hong Kong, “The Cambridge Scholarly Luncheon and Energy Policy Forum -Our Sustainable Energy Future” was successfully held in the Grand Hyatt Hotel. This programme was sponsored by Synergy Group Holdings International Ltd. On that day, Prof. Michael Pollitt from Cambridge University, Prof. Victor On-Kwok Li and Dr. Jacqueline C K Lam from University of Hong Kong shared insight on the ideal “Energy Policy”, the direction of future development of “Energy Policy”, the role of renewable energy, and the feasibility of adopting smart-grid technologies. The participants greatly benefited from the forum.

The 3rd “Social Innovation Inventor – Elderly Retreat Hostel Design Competition”(2015/2016) was successfully kicked off

WGO joined hands with the Charles K. Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease again and launched the 3rd “Social Innovation Inventor – Elderly Retreat Hostel Design Competition”. The objective of this competition is to design a retreat hostel for the dementia sufferers, to create a pleasant holiday experience for them and thus help to slow down the deterioration of dementia.

The ‘Linking Food with Love – From the Golden Age to the Greens’ Surplus Food Donation Project’ closing ceremony and fair

The ‘Linking Food with Love – From the Golden Age to the Greens’ Surplus Food Donation Project’ celebrated its success at the closing ceremony and fair. On that day, Ms. Christine Loh, JP, Under Secretary for the Environment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Environmental Bureau and Dr. William Yu, CEO of the WGO were invited as the officiating guests.
