WGO’s Second Anniversary cum GOALS Award Presentation Ceremony


WGO’s Second Anniversary cum Green Office Awards Labelling Scheme (GOALS) Award Presentation Ceremony was successfully held on 11th December, 2014 in Bank of America Tower. On that day, WGO was pleased to see nearly 70 offices receive the green office award, while qualified companies were awarded with WGO’s “Green Office” and “UNMDG’s “Better World Company” labels.


WGO was so excited to have more than 200 guests attending and celebrating the Second Anniversary with us. Our guests were comprised of government officials, business leaders, scholars, and pioneers from the environmental protection sector. Our officiating guests included: The Hon. Lam Woon-kwong, GBS, JP; Mr. Zaw Zaw Soe, Consulate General of Myanmar; Ms. Sharon Lau, JP, Acting Director of Hong Kong Observatory; Mr. Bobby Ng, BBS, JP, Deputy Director, Water Supplies Department; Mr. Michael Lai, BBS, MH, JP, Chairman of the Board of Governors, WGO; Mr. Albert Oung, President, WGO; and Dr. William Yu, Chief Executive Officer, WGO. WGO was so honoured to have the Choir from Cambridge University to sing for us; their beautiful songs brought meaning and joy to our ceremony. Read more

Full Implementation of the Plastic Shopping Bag Charging - Community Projects at Public Housing Estates

Full implementation of the Plastic Shopping Bag Charging (PSB Charging) will come into effect on April 2015. In response to this, WGO has started to launch a series of Community-based Projects to introduce the details of PSB Charging to the citizens. WGO visited Tai Wo Hau Estate on 30th December, and will visit additional housing estates, so as to urge the citizens to bring their own bags and to engage in environmental protection. If you have any extra bags, you may donate them to WGO. We will deliver the extra bags to those in need. Read more

Linking Food with Love: From the Golden Age to the Greens Surplus Food Recycling Project

Owing to the fact that every day in Hong Kong nearly one hundred kilos of discarded vegetables are produced in each wet market, WGO will join hands with “the Link” and other cooperative partners in forming surplus food recycling teams to collect discarded vegetables at the Link’s wet markets. Additionally, WGO is recruiting young volunteers between the ages of 16 and 29 years old to facilitate that project. The deadline for young volunteers to sign up is 30th Jan 2015. Read more
